Material Handling & Storage Guidelines

Material Handling & Storage Guidelines The following is a summary of best practices for working with top-coated thermal polyurethane (TPU) paint protection film. Please follow these guidelines to maintain product quality and minimize material waste:
Avoid Excess Pressure: Do not apply undue pressure to the surface of the film while it is still on the roll, as this may cause pressure marks.
Handle with Care: Transport cartons carefully to prevent pressure marks from rough handling.
Gloss Management: Gloss may fade due to pressure, prolonged storage, or high temperatures—this is normal for TPU film. A heat gun may help restore gloss. American Shield PPF applies a gloss-enhancing protective sheet to the top coat prior to installation.
Storage Conditions: Store the product in an area with temperatures below 90°F and relative humidity between 40% and 60%.
Shelf Life: Use American Shield PPF within one year from the purchase date for optimal performance.
Original Packaging: Do not repackage the film into boxes of different sizes, as this may cause pressure marks, faded gloss, or embossing. Always store the film in its original packaging.
Clean Repackaging Environment: If rewinding or cutting the film, ensure a clean workspace to avoid contamination, which can lead to surface marks such as dots or twists.
Proper Repacking: After partial use, do not repackage the roll loosely. Keep it tightly rolled and secured with tape, as originally packaged. Tunneling under the surface protection sheet may occur if the film is loosely or incorrectly rewound.
Temperature for Application: Adhesive performance may vary with seasonal changes. Apply the film only in environments above 50°F, especially in cold weather, for proper adhesion.
Surface Preparation: A mixture of water and neutral detergent or IPA (isopropyl alcohol) may be used prior to application. Adhesive tack can vary depending on the IPA-to-water ratio.
Non-Automotive Use: If using the product for non-automotive purposes, contact American Shield PPF. Product dimensions, packaging, and adhesive properties may need adjustment.
Disclaimer: American Shield PPF is not responsible for damage resulting from mishandling, improper storage, recutting, repacking, failure to use a sponge core, or use of the film beyond one year from the date of purchase.
